“Let’s go, Barney! It’s Cheeburger time!”

FuRR’s latest fundraiser was being held at Cheeburger Cheeburger in the Pleasant Ridge Shopping Center. We’d been promoting it for a while now, asking people to take a FuRR flyer so that we’d receive a percentage of each meal.

We missed one of my students, Trinity, and her grandmother, but met up with Barney’s friend Ms. Hannah, who went on field trips with him and Shadow last summer. She was accompanied by her family and some more “FuRR folks.” (more…)

Woooo, Pig — Kitty, kitty? Cats come out to root for Hogs

Wooo. Pig. Kitty, Kitty??  Maybe not usually, but that’s the way it was today as Feline Rescue and Rehome PR Team Barney and Shadow headed to a tailgating fundraiser for FuRR.

Chris Tirman and Dan Eaton of the Alloplastic Facial Reconstruction Clinic at B St. and Van Buren graciously let us use their parking lot to benefit our cats and kittens!

The lot filled quickly, and we set up a table by the sidewalk offering brownies, cookies, drinks and hot dogs for a donation to FuRR. Our main attractions, though were Barney and Shadow.  (more…)

Kitties on best behavior for Santa

Barney and Shadow and I headed out today for an activity that, to me, always signals the start of the holiday season: CARE for Animals Photos With Santa!

While Barney and Shadow were going for the first time, I was making my 11th trek to the Cammack City Hall. My first visit was with Piper when he was just 4 months old. Both Piper and Big Footsie were CARE rescues, so supporting them is close to my heart.

It was a little sad this year to be going not just without Big Footsie, but without Alex or Piper, who died this year. It is hard to be sad very long, though, in the company of Barn Bear and Shadow Man! (more…)
