Imagine what the very best field trip would be like! Whatever you came up with couldn’t possibly be any more fun than what Barney and Shadow did Saturday.

The guys got all spiffied up in their bandanas and headed downtown to The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, where Ms. Krisha of Rescue in the Rock had invited us to visit the newsroom.

We were scheduled to go to a budget meeting and meet lots of the newspaper staff. (more…)

Library cats plan big for summer

After Shadow’s extraordinary last couple of days at school he began his summer vacation thinking, no doubt, that he had the Head Library Cat job in the bag. Well, he forgot to give Barney that little bit of information!

On my very last day, when most of the other teachers had already left, Barney came along to keep me company. At least I thought that was why he was there. It seems Mr. Barney might have had an ulterior motive.

Did he spend the quiet day sleeping in a sunny window? Not that Barney. From the way he worked that day it was plain to see that he was making one last charge for the top Library Cat position. (more…)

What a busy few days we have had, with the final Acelerated Reader rally coming up and students reading to reach their goals so that they can go on their reward field trips. I have been busy taking the last few reading poster pictures and creating the posters.

Friday, Hexie was here for her photo shoot. She posed gracefully every time she was asked and then busied herself offering to be held and checking on the students as they worked.

“I love her feet, one student said. She has the skinniest feet of all the library cats.” (more…)
