Library cat prefers supervision to painting

We are such an uptown library! Not only do we have resident artist Monsieur Shadeaux on the staff, now we also have Monsieur Bar-nay, artiste extraordinaire.

Barney got his chance to create Shadow Art on Monday; I guess we would call it Barney Art, though!

With a little help from his friends, he paw-painted a picture using food colors, orange, purple, pink and green, with which Mary helped him create what we think will be his specialty – starbursts. (more…)

The scheduled library cat on duty today was … the one who was nearest me when it was time to leave! That turned out to be Shadow.

For the first time he didn’t make a peep on the way to work and that is great progress.

When I sat down at the computer he joined me and immediately knocked two pictures over and down the book return, pushed the stapler to the floor and walked across the keyboard a couple of times, followed by plopping down in the space he had cleared. (more…)

Final reader rally bittersweet; former library cats missed

The final Accelerated Reader rally has come and gone! Our little band of two dozen elementary students outdid themselves this year, reading about 1,200 books, with over half being Footsie’s Favorites.

Barney was on hand as the kids gathered to get their prizes and reading posters.

He watched proudly as Makayla won the trophy for reaching the highest percentage over her goal, 260%, and got a hug from her as she showed it to him. (more…)
