Library cat inspects babies, finds them lacking

After our busy week of partying in the library, this week is pretty calm. Elsewhere on campus, things are rockin’.

Tonight our secondary kids have their Winter dance; elementary kids will meet Santa tomorrow; our choir is practicing for their program and our seventh graders are…carrying around babies! Not real ones, of course, even though they are supposed to be treated as though they are real as part of a program called “Baby Think It Over.” Naturally Alex has to meet the babies! Two of my boys showed theirs to Alex and he was not impressed…they didn’t smell like catnip or anything to eat! Students, friends gather for Library Cat Christmas

What a great Library Cat Christmas we had here yesterday! Our first Christmas party with Alex doing the hosting was a big success. Alex, SnuggleBunny and Piper all arrived at school early and put on a holiday collar. They had a tasty crunchy breakfast of Fancy Feast Filet Mignon With Real Seafood and Shrimp and settled down to wait for their company to arrive.

Soon we had most of the elementary students here and some of the older kids. Alex and SnuggleBunny visited with the crowd and seemed to be having a good time. Some of our youngest students came along and were quite taken with Alex’s ears and tail and whiskers. He was so patient letting them explore these things that make a kitty a kitty. (more…)

The Christmas trees are up and we’ve finally answered the question, “To party or not to party?”

Every year I decorate trees in the library with my collection of cat ornaments. The students especially love seeing the ornaments for our library cats. Each one over the years has accumulated several personalized ones, with their names or pictures on them.

As my fourth graders were standing on chairs inspecting a tree, one noticed, “There aren’t any black cats here. Where are they?” (more…)
